About the Company

Non branded TruckFrom the beginnings of Hall’s, over 40 years ago, we have grown into one of the most sophisticated specialist refrigerated carriers available. We have developed a true national network with branches from Auckland in the North to Invercargill in the South. Our customer base reflects our industry specialty with our many customers endorsing our abilities and commitment.

With the purchase of TollTranzlink Refrigerated in 2005, Hall’s Refrigerated Transport expanded our transport and logistics solutions to include rail. As the exclusive provider of temperature controlled domestic freight on rail, Hall’s has a key asset that can provide customers with a cost effective and sustainable solution. From the establishment of a rail network, Hall’s has since invested extensively in Intermodal units. Our intermodal units allow loading and unloading at customers sites as a normal truck unit and the linehaul portion is conducted on rail. The advantage of this is that the units have stand alone refrigeration and are controlled fully by Hall’s. As freight volumes increase in the future and freight imbalances between regions vary, our Intermodal solution is essential in maintaining costs and utilising assets to their full potential.

In 2007, Hall’s purchased LCL Transport Ltd and this was rebranded to Hall’s Intermodal on 1 July 2009. Hall’s Intermodal is focused on container transport, both dry freight and reefer units, and all forms of dry cartage and general freight.

Hall’s Direct is our third separate business unit set up at our clients premises based in Otahuhu. Hall’s Direct is operating 24/7, 362 days per year as a temperature controlled service provider to one of the major supermarket chains delivering to all of the North Island stores. It has the most environmentally friendly truck fleet in New Zealand, with the all brand new DAF vehicles meeting the exacting EEV 5.5 standard. All these vehicles are fitted with lane change variation sensors, reversing cameras, GPS and temperature tracking to maintain integrity during rigorous DIFOT expectations and cool chain auditing.

Hall’s Refrigerated, Hall’s Intermodal and Hall’s Direct is about leveraging all of Hall’s capability with 40 years experience, 400 people, 250 trucks (including owner drivers), 80 intermodal units and 11 depots across the country.

In 2000, in line with Hall’s commitment to food safety and continuous improvement, the decision was taken to focus on depot redevelopment and upgrade throughout our network. Our new state of the art facility in Auckland was commissioned in January 2001 and is one of the most modern and well designed cold stores in New Zealand.

The entire programme has been undertaken with continuity and integrity of the cold chain in mind. Hall’s predominately employee driven fleet comprises some of the most technologically advanced refrigerated equipment on New Zealand roads today. We continue to design and build equipment to maximise load factors through innovation, advancing technology and optimisation of legislative changes, often in consultation with customers about their specific requirements.

We operate state of the art cross-dock facilities at strategic national locations as well as offering chilled and frozen storage options at key branches in both the North and South Islands.

This comprehensive fleet is entirely company controlled and the management programme we have in place offers reliability through planned, progressive replacement and maintenance of all trucks, trailers and refrigeration units. The refrigeration units, where possible, are fitted with low decibel kits to reduce noise pollution as far as practicable. Most of the fleet is fitted with multi temperature units to allow maximisation of load efficiency and seamless delivery of dual temperature consignments.

Hall’s is committed to the protection of the environment and the sustainable and responsible use of all natural resources. Hall's will practice adherence to this policy by using plant and equipment, processes and materials which minimise any adverse impact on the environment.

Let Hall's answer all your temperature controlled supply chain requirements. We are an extension of the food industry delivering specialist services in all aspects of transport, distribution and storage of food products calling for refrigreration.
