Health & Safety Policy

Directors, Staff and Management at Halls Group are committed to providing a Healthy and Safe work place for employees, contractors and visitors on company sites and premises and off-site on company business.   In doing so we will comply with all relevant Legislation, Codes of Practice and Regulations, and to continually improve our performance, seeking excellence in Health and Safety.

  • The Health and Safety system is reviewed and monitored to take account of changing conditions and circumstances in the workplace.   Records are kept of the hazard management programme.
  • Employees have the opportunity to participate in the development of health and safety practices and in becoming Health and Safety Representatives.   Relevant documentation relating to occupational health and safety issues are made available to employees.
  • All employees and contractors are inducted, trained, supervised and provided with information to undertake their duties safely.
  • All accidents and incidents are reported to the supervisor and or manager.   They will be properly recorded, investigated and appropriate action taken to prevent recurrence.
  • The Company Health & Safety manual and procedures spell out specific responsibilities for all employees and details of required actions and activities.
  • The company will ensure high standards of housekeeping and hygiene, effective hazard management, competency training, accident reporting and emergency response.

Responsibilities and Commitment of Directors and Management

The company will:

  • Consult with employees on health and safety matters that affect them.
  • All plant, substances and work systems used are suitable for their intended purposes and meet safety requirements.
  • Adequate training, information, instruction and supervision are provided.
  • Contractors and visitors are made aware of their responsibilities and safety procedures.
  • Respond promptly to any health or safety issues brought to their attention.
  • Commit to having the appropriate training and accountability for all staff including management.
  • Pursue rehabilitation programs, to support the safe and early return to work of all injured employees.

Responsibilities of Employees

  • To carry out work in a way that does not adversely affect their own health and safety and that of other workers.
  • To learn and understand health and safety rules and follow them to ensure they completely understand instructions before starting work, to avoid taking short cuts and always use safe work procedures.
  • To use correctly any information, training, personal protective equipment and safety equipment provided.
  • If in doubt about the safety of a task, to stop and get instructions from the supervisor or manager before continuing.
  • To make sure they understand exactly their responsibilities in emergencies.
  • To report all accidents and unsafe conditions to the supervisor or health and safety representative immediately.

This H&S Policy will be reviewed biennially.
